More about the Award from DWAA

On Sunday night, February 9th, at the Westminster dog show, my book Elsa Was Born a Dog, I Was Born a Human…Things Have Changed received the Merial Special Award for the best work on Human-Animal Bond. Merial is a large company that manufactures veterinarian pharmaceuticals. The award was for “the work that best highlights the unique relationship between a dog and its owner and best brings to life the concept of the human-animal bond”. There were 700 entries and I was told that there was strong competition. It was presented by the Dog Writers Association of America. I am very pleased that my book has been honored by other writers.

We are so proud to have been honored with the Merial Special Award for Best Work on Human/Animal Bond at the Dog Writer’s Association of America‘s 2014 Banquet, held in conjunction with the Westminster Dog Show. When the association’s website has been updated, we’ll give you a link.

Speaking of Westminster, don’t miss Eli, son of our Rosie, competing in the working group on the 2nd day. The breed competitions are streamed live on their website. Here’s Eli getting a Major last year.
